Signature Types & Levels
Improve efficiency & customer experience with electronic signatures by Evrotrust.
Evrotrust is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP), officially listed in EU trust list. Types of e-Signatures that we provide:
Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)
Our Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) represents the highest level of electronic signature under the eIDAS Regulation. It is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature across the European Union and beyond, and designed for use in the most sensitive and high‑risk digital transactions.
- Highest grade of legal recognition: compliant with eIDAS Article 24 & Section 4, QES is recognized across all EU member states and carries full evidentiary weight in court.
- Based on a Qualified Electronic Certificate: issued only after the user completes an electronic identification (eID) process by Evrotrust.
- Exclusively issued to natural persons, ensuring traceability and accountability of signatories.
- Tamper‑evident and cryptographically secure, ensuring integrity and non‑repudiation of signed content.
QES Advantages꞉
-
Legally equivalent to handwritten signatures—ensuring the highest level of legal standing in the EU and beyond.]
-
Meets the strictest regulatory requirements, including AML (Anti‑Money Laundering), KYC (Know Your Customer), and EBA (European Banking Authority) guidelines.]
-
Ideal for sensitive and high‑value transactions.
-
Reduces legal and compliance risks for enterprises operating in regulated industries (finance, legal, government, etc.).
-
Fully mobile or issued as OTP eSign — can be seamlessly embedded into any Web or Mobile workflow via an API or SDK integration. No need for paperwork, smart cards, or tokens.
Best for High‑risk, regulated transactions. Signing sensitive documents such as contracts, legal agreements, loan approvals, or government documentation—with full AML/KYC/EBA compliance.
Advanced Electronic Signature (AES)
Our Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) is a robust digital signature solution that balances strong legal validity and technical security with greater flexibility and ease of use. AES offers a legally recognized digital signature that is suitable for a wide range of business and transactional applications.
- Uniquely linked to the signer and capable of identifying them.
- Created using electronic signature creation data that the signer can use under their sole control with a high level of confidence
- Linked to the signed data so that any subsequent change in the data is detectable.
- Based on an Advanced Electronic Certificate, issued by Evrotrust with secure cryptography following the user’s identification by the relying party
AES Advantages꞉
- Faster onboarding and user adoption thanks to the lighter eID requirements (e.g. verification by a live agent over the phone, using pictures of the user and their ID).
- More scalable than QES for frequent signing needs that don’t require strict compliance, such as medium‑ and low‑risk customer agreements or routine contractual amendments. Seamless integration into any user flow via API, signing via an OTP for added customer experience—in‑branch or remotely.
Important Considerations꞉
- AES is a non‑Qualified Trust Service—not AML/KYC/EBA‑compliant by default.
- Customer identification must be performed by the relying party, which acts as the registration agent and assumes liability for identification.
Best for mid‑risk business transactions where full QES‑level identification is not required. Signing non‑sensitive recurring customer agreements, everyday commercial documents, internal HR documents.
Simple Electronic Signature (SES)
The simplest form of electronic signature, offering minimal security features. With no technical requirements, the basic e-signature can be a scanned signature image, a signature under an email or clicking an “I accept” button on a website. Parties involved need to agree to accept the signature for it to have the value of a handwritten one. Not provided by Evrotrust.

How It Works
Choose the type of signature based on the role the physical person will sign the documents digitally, as well as based on the integration flow:
| End user | Company representative | Company | |
|---|---|---|---|
| QES | eSign via Evrotrust mobile app | eSign automatically | eSeal (if applicable) |
| QES | eSign via OTP eSign (SMS code/link) | eSign automatically | eSeal (if applicable) |
| QES | eSign via Your application (mobile SDK integration) | eSign automatically | eSeal (if applicable) |
| AES | eSign via OTP eSign (SMS code/link) | eSign automatically* | eSeal (if applicable) |
- In AES flows, company representative can eSign documents with qualified certificate for advanced electronic signature or with QES.
ℹ️ In all flows Evrotrust electronic signatures are combined automatically with qualiified e-Timestamp at no additional changes.
