Registration Authority
Choose Your Identity Verification Method.
A Registration Authority (RA) acts as a trusted intermediary responsible for verifying the identity of individuals before they receive qualified electronic signatures or certificates. The RA validates identity documents, confirms personal data accuracy, and ensures compliance with eIDAS regulations and qualified trust service provider standards. This identity verification step is critical because it establishes the legal validity and trustworthiness of digital signatures — without proper identity verification, electronic signatures cannot achieve qualified status under eIDAS.
In Evrotrust's SMS OTP product, the Registration Authority function determines how users are verified before they can sign documents. You have two implementation options:
Evrotrust performs the complete remote identification process using its certified identity verification workflows. Users verify their identity through Evrotrust's mobile app by scanning identity documents and completing liveness checks. This option provides out-of-the-box eIDAS compliance with no additional certification requirements for your organization.
Your organization or a third-party partner performs the remote identification process using your own identity verification system. Evrotrust audits your verification process against the requirements of its certified identity verification procedures to ensure eIDAS compliance. This option allows you to maintain control over user onboarding while leveraging Evrotrust's qualified signature infrastructure.
